ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY TEAM III

 

Team III from Department of Social Work was headed by Dr. Avtar Singh faculty, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College, University of Delhi . The team consisted of ten students namely – Mr. Tejeswar, Mr. Anil Minz, Mr. Albinus, Mr. Anil Mathew from the department of social work and Mr. Shantanu, Md. Tabaish, Mr, Ashutosh, Mr. Avadh, Mr. Akshay and Mr. Devabrat from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College, University of Delhi.and a non-teaching member, Mr. Rajesh Singh. They arrived at the base camp on 17th September 2008 and started field action from the next day.. The team along with them took relief materials of worth Rs. 20 lacs. Highly motivated by the action of the previous teams the Team C undertook a rapid assessment of the work done so far and did extensive resource mapping based on PRA (Participatory Research Appraisal) techniques.

  1. They introduced a awareness based module of learning in the school, where along with the basic education the children are given information about the hazards of the flood water and water borne diseases.
  2. The mobile medical unit was operationalized in Madhepura and Supaul districts.
  3. Networked with the local government and was a major participant amongst the government and non-govermental organizations which came for NGO coordination meeting. The district magistrate Saharsa has asked the department of social work to send proposals for undertaking:
    - Damage Assessment of the affected areas.
    - Psycho-social counseling of the victims of the diseater
    - Formation of federation of the organizations working in the diseaster.
