Where are we working


The first team undertook rapid assessment of almost all the flood affected areas of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura for two days. It also analysed the relief work going on in Saharsa which has emerged as an ‘island of hope’ for millions rendered homeless. Finally an area known as Bhutahi Baandh was identified for the intervention. As on today the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi is engaged in relief work with the flood affected people in Bhutahi Baandh. There the departmet with the assistance from the doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi , King Edward Medical College , Mumbai is running a Primary Health Centre.

The volunteers from the department of social work are running a school “HAMARI PATHSALA” for the displaced children in Bhutahi Baandh.

We are also attending to medical emergencies in Dinapatti, Rampur Bushair, Sahsol, Baghiani, Simrahi, Majhowa, Sripur, Govindpur etc. in Madhepura and Supaul districts in association with Help Age India.

 

In Sonbarsha and Nanaiti in Saharsa district the volunteers of the department along with the team of doctors attending to the patients and distributing relief materials. The department is also looking at the relief camps in Saharsa town and assisting in their management.

On 04th October 2008 , the volunteers from the Department of Social Work have also started a primary health centre in Jirwa Mor area of Madhepura district where thousands of victims are still  living  under water and in temporary settlements and government assistance in required manner is yet to reach. The centre has catered to the needs of more than 300 patients both male and female on the very first day.
